OMAHA, Neb. – Thursday night’s LSU-North Carolina College World Series game was suspended in the top of the first inning due to heavy thunderstorms in the Omaha area. The game was halted at 6:27 p.m. and NCAA officials decided to postpone the shortly after 9:30 p.m.The game will resume at 6:08 p.m. Friday with North Carolina leading 2-0 with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the first. The Tar Heels (52-13) struck for two runs against LSU starter Blake Martin as right fielder Tim Fedroff lined an RBI double and third baseman Chad Flack drew as bases-loaded walk.

“It was a rough start for us, obviously,” LSU head coach Paul Mainieri said. “It’s going to be a long night sleeping knowing that the bases are loaded with one out and we are already in a 2-0 hole. We will just have to come out tomorrow, and hopefully, we can get out of a jam and stay in the game early. We will see what happens. It was a long night, an unusual night.

The winner of Friday’s game between the Tar Heels (52-13) and the Tigers (49-18-1) will advance to face Fresno State at 6 p.m. Saturday. The loser of Friday’s game is eliminated from the CWS.
