BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri has hired Michigan State coach David Grewe as an associate head coach for the Tigers.

The 32-year-old Grewe, a former assistant under Mainieri at Notre Dame, will serve as LSU's pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

Mainieri also announced Thursday that volunteer coach Javi Sanchez has been promoted to full-time assistant coach; coordinator of baseball operations Will Davis has been promoted to volunteer assistant coach; and former LSU pitcher Kyle Beerbohm has been appointed undergraduate student assistant coach.

Mainieri says he is in the process of accepting applications for Davis' former position of coordinator of operations.
