HOUSTON (AP) -- The Texas Rangers today called up first baseman Chris Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma.

The Rangers say the 22-year-old Davis will be in uniform for tonight's game at Houston and could make his major league debut.

Texas designated first baseman Chris Shelton for assignment in order to make room for Davis on the roster.

Davis -- who's from Longview -- has batted .333 with 23 home runs, 21 doubles, and 77 RBI in 77 games for Double-A Frisco and for Oklahoma this season.
